Did you know that 3.2 million Americans live in their mobile homes? With houses tied to the land reaching insane prices, the choice makes perfect sense.
If you live in a mobile home, you might be wondering about the different sizes of propane tanks available to you. Well, you’ve come to the right place! Read on to find out more.
Types of Propane Tanks
Propane tanks are sized in direct proportion to the expected needs of the household. Simply put, the more propane-powered appliances you use, the larger your tank should be. Depending on your individual use case, a few options might suit you best.
These include portable and fixed tanks for propane storage, depending on your preferred solution. These different types have advantages and disadvantages depending on your outlook.
If you’re the type to enjoy the open road and take your mobile home wherever the wind blows, a smaller portable tank is the option for you. If you own some land and have an established home base, investing in a larger free-standing model might be better.
Large Static Tanks
For those of you who plan to store a considerable volume of propane, there are larger tanks available in 100-pound, 100-gallon, and 500-gallon sizes. Try our gas use calculator if you’d like an estimate of what your consumption is likely to look like!
100-pound propane tanks are great for mixed heating systems or mobile homes with limited propane usage, and they are generally used for cooking and drying clothes. These tall and skinny tanks make for easy placement around your mobile home.
500-gallon tanks, on the other hand, are significantly bigger. They are good for homes expecting to power most of their appliances including propane furnaces, gas fireplaces, gas ranges, gas hot water heaters, and gas clothes dryers.
A large, 500-gallon tank may be overkill for your home, but you can also rest easy knowing you’re prepared for the future.
Small to Medium Tanks
These are the most common tanks used in both mobile homes and RVs. They’re light enough to be lugged around and small enough not to take up too much space.
Despite their diminutive size compared to their larger counterparts, they last a surprisingly long time. For example, a filled 100-pound tank can last for months on end, depending on how frequently it’s used. Many mobile homes find the smaller, more portable tanks to be ideal.
These tanks are the perfect size for mobile homes, especially if you don’t own a plot of land for a large static tank.
Choosing The Right Tank for You
There are a couple of things to think about before selecting a tank. Thankfully, the process isn’t a complicated one. Simply consider how much gas you will use.
If you’re happy where you are and can’t see that changing any time soon, you can’t go wrong with a large tank. If you’re in Southeastern Pennsylvania or Northern Delaware, we’d be happy to deliver!
If you prefer not to be tied to your gas tank and would rather take it, one of our smaller options is the clear winner. Whether you choose a large store that won’t run out anytime soon or the freedom of refilling or replacing smaller tanks, the choice is yours!
